The MICS School 2023, held in Islamabad from November 30 to December 5, marked a significant milestone as twenty-five staff from provinces including Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan Administrated Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan came together for the first-ever workshop on Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys.
These attendees, representatives of every province and region's population and development department/board, statistical bureaus, and the Pakistan Bureau for Statistics participated in a comprehensive program divided into two key sections. Firstly, they completed the online MICS course on UNICEF's AGORA platform. Secondly, they engaged in a five-day, in-person training session focused on enhancing technical knowledge of MICS design and implementation. The training included hands-on activities, providing participants with practical experience using MICS tools.
Facilitated by highly skilled experts from the Global MICS team (HQ and ROSA) and the UNICEF Pakistan Country Office's Data and Analytics Unit, the MICS School 2023 holds the promise of developing a pool of MICS survey professionals in Pakistan. This initiative aims to bridge the technical gap and contribute to the growth of highly experienced human resources dedicated to MICS surveys.
