THE MICS GIS INITIATIVE: RELEASE OF THE MICS GEOCODE PLUGIN

17 November 2022

We are very pleased to announce the release of the MICS Geocode Plugin tool. This is a custom-built software plugin working on the open-source Geographic Information System (GIS) software QGIS. The tool will help in the process of anonymising the MICS cluster geocodes.

A paper elaborating the methodology used by MICS Programme for anonymising cluster geocodes is underway, but until then, more information about the methodology can be found in a previous news piece.

The MICS Geocode Plugin “MICS Geocode Plugin (version 1.1)” is published together with manuals on how to install and how to use. These can be found on the Tools pages (Survey design, under Sampling and Mapping tools).

As with all MICS tools, this plugin and manuals carry MICS branding and terminology but can be used for any household survey.
