Towards the end of 2020, the National Statistics Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic conducted a follow-up survey to the Kyrgyzstan 2018 MICS. The survey, designed using MICS tools and protocols, targeted a sub-sample of the previous MICS. Data collection was done through telephone interviews.

The survey was supported by UNICEF’s Kyrgyzstan Country Office, but not as part of the Global MICS Programme. One of the benefits of a Global Household Survey Programme is that tools and processes are freely available and can be adopted for use in most household surveys. With national and/or local experience and capacity the tools stand on their own. This is particularly true for National Statistics Offices with decades of experience in MICS, but organizations across the world can utilize the freely available MICS tools to either fully or partially inform design of other surveys.

Reporting was based on the MICS Statistical Snapshot templates and is available here.
