NEW MANUAL ON MICS DATA ANALYSIS FOR EDUCATION INDICATORS

11 May 2020

MICS releases a new manual for education data analysis using novel data from the sixth round of MICS surveys

A new guide was developed to help countries better understand the status of their education systems using MICS6 data and make informed decisions based on data-driven evidence. The manual, which has a special focus on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, provides detailed information on how MICS education indicators are constructed, and how to analyze the indicators using descriptive and analytical approaches. Apart from the education indicators, the manual also discusses the construction of key cross-sectoral variables such as child labour, early marriage and parental involvement in schooling.

The guide is part of the broader MICS-EAGLE initiative which seeks to enhance the use of data generated by MICS6 to improve education policies and practices, and thereby achieve better education outcomes for children. The initiative aims to publish data for more the 70 MICS6 surveys across 61 countries by 2022, creating further momentum for further data analysis.
